The twins of a popular Islamic cleric in Oyo State, Taofeeq Akewugbagold, have been kidnapped in Ibadan, Oyo state capital.
The twins: a male and a female, were taken from his Ojoo, Ibadan residence when he was away at a studio to record a Ramadam lecture, Akewugbagold, disclosed in a post on his Facebook page in the early hours of Sunday.
He was the former Chairman of the Oyo State Pilgrims Welfare Board (Muslim Wing) during the two-term tenure of immediate past governor of Oyo State, Sen. Abiola Ajimobi,.
According to him, the twins were born by his wife after 12 years of barrenness and pleaded that the abductors should release them for Allah’s sake.
“Everybody should pls for Allah’s sake assist me in prayer and begging the abductor to pls be mercy with me expecially their mother who was barren for 12 years b4. Am begging not flexing anything. This is their pictures, help share wide. Oh my God!” (Sic)
The spokesperson of the state police command, Olugbenga Fadeyi, confirmed the abduction.
Fadeyi said some arrests have been made in connection with the abduction. “Yes, there was an abduction of Akewugbagold twins yesterday night.
“Efforts intensified, arrests were made and currently assisting the police in investigations.”
