A socio-political group in Iseyin, Iseyin local government, Iseyin Elite Group, has responded to a statement credited to a group named Iseyin Progressive Youth Vanguard on the comment of Barrister Ahmed Raji SAN on the achievements of the incumbent governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde on physical infrastructures in Iseyin and Oke-Ogun area, describing IPYV as serving the interest of the All Progressive Party (APC), which they claimed is jittery of failure in the coming 2023 elections.
Barrister Ahmed Raji SAN told the audience at the burial of the late Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Dr. Abdganiy Salawudeen Adekunle Oloogunebi Ajinese I, on Saturday that the incumbent governor of Oyo State has done well for the Iseyin community to deserve the continuous support and appreciation.
Iseyin Elite Group, in a statement signed by its President, Mr Alaba Muraina said the attempt by the IPYV to politicize the statement was indicative of jittery of the possibility of electoral loss in 2023.
Muraina said “the attention of our group was drawn to an online publication in which a faceless group, working for the opposition in Oyo State tried to turn upside down, a true and frank statement of the respected Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Barrister Ahmed Raji on the achievements of the present administration of governor Seyi Makinde on developmental projects in our community.
“We are not just defending the statement of the legal luminary, we are defending what everyone sees as the truth, the Moniya-Iseyin road that the present administration reconstructed within the first two years of its coming was there during the Ajimobi regime while our people were suffering and nothing was done.
“Ajimobi promised our people higher institution of learning prior to 2011 election, he failed to deliver, he promised again in the build up to 2015 election and failed to do it, but somebody delivered on the same promised within three years he came to power, today we have the LAUTECH’s College of Agriculture and Renewable Natural Resources in Iseyin.
“APC government rallied their supporters to Oyo-Iseyin road prior to the 2019 election, lying that contractor has started work on the reconstruction of the said road, but what did we have, today, the incumbent has gotten the go-ahead for the State to reconstruct that road and work is ongoing, same can be said of the Iseyin-Fapote-Ogbomoso road that was never thought of by the past administrations and is now nearing completion.
“Look at all these and more, check the number of our brothers and sisters that got State appointments recently and cross-check with that of the APC era, you will see that the IPYV were just out to discredit Barrister Raji’s statement in an attempt to obliterate the reality of the time, which is impossible.
“Enumerating and appreciating the achievements of the present government was not any attempt at discredit or disregard the achievements of the previous government of late Governor Ajimobi, that earned him a second term in office.
“Everybody is in the knowing about the support Barrister Raji gave late Governor Abiola Ajimobi when it mattered most, even the dead will not be ungrateful to the one that assisted them, IPYV should thread softly, they should not court trouble because of politics.”
The Iseyin Elite Group used the opportunity to appreciate the State government for its support towards the final burial of the late Aseyin and commended Barrister Ahmed Raji SAN for his leadership roles in taking Iseyin to a greater height among other notable communities in Oyo State.
