Deputy National Chairman (South) of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Senator Abiola Ajimobi has expressed deep sadness and regrets over the passage of Pa Salau Adelere, foremost Oke-Ogun Awoist and one of Nigeria’s progressive-minded politician.
According to Ajimobi in a statement issued by Bolaji Tunji, Special Adviser, Communication and Strategy to the immediate past governor of Oyo State, Pa Adelere’s death still came with regrets though he lived to a ripe old age of 90 years. Pa Adelere died on Friday, June 5, 2020.
He described the Iseyin-born politician as one of the greatest advocates of progressive politics whose dreams have always been to ensure that Nigeria achieved her full potentials. “He was committed to the ideals of progressive politics as espoused by the late sage, all through his life. He was one of our greatest pillars of support in Oke-Ogun and by extension, Oyo State.
He said the death of Pa Adelere has left a vacuum in the progressives fold while the people of Iseyin, Oke Ogun and Oyo State would also miss his sage advice and support in years to come.
“I share in the grief of the Aseyin, his immediate family, his associates, the people of Oke-Ogun, Oyo State and Nigeria, especially those who would continue to miss the void he left behind. In spite of his advanced age, I know that no words can adequately capture the grief and the pains of the loss, I however pray that the Almighty God consoles you all”, he said.
