A gubernatorial aspirant in Oyo State on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, Professor Adeolu Akande wants Nigerians to exercise love towards one another and demonstrate the virtue of giving as exemplified by the birth of Jesus Christ.
Akande who noted that Christmas period is a unique one as it is always characterized by colour, music, festivity and communal interaction stresses the need for Nigerians to internalize the lesson and the significance of the period which he identifies as love, sacrifice and giving as demonstrated by God through Jesus Christ for the salvation of mankind.
The don who is also a former Chief of staff to the Oyo State Governor noted that the season provides a unique opportunity for Nigerians to imbibe new attitude towards nation building, and commits their energy to promotion of human dignity, development, tolerance and mutual respect.
He expressed the hope that though the nation was passing through a phase in her national life, there was the need to sustain sense of optimism just as he called for awakening of national consciousness.
Professor Akande who also teaches political science at Igbinedon University, Okada further enjoins Nigerians to place emphasis on issues that build up rather than ones that divide and causes disharmony.
He called for sustenance of efforts from leaders at all levels so that Nigerians will experience better days in the coming years.
The don however challenged Nigerians to celebrate in the spirit of moderation and generosity to the underprivileged.
