Raufu Olaniyan has expressed deep shock and sadness at the passing to glory of ace broadcaster, writer and journalist Adebayo Faleti.
A release made available to newsmen in Ibadan yesterday signed by his media aide Omolere Omoetan quoted the All Progressives Congress, APC, gubernatorial aspirants has saying that the vacuum created by the demise of Faleti will be difficult to fill, noting that the distinguished poet and translator left a very enviable track record that will be challenging to surpass.
He said Adebayo Faleti did all he could to promote the Yoruba language and culture, and therefore urge all to continue to uphold the course to bolster the relevance of the Yoruba culture, language and way of life particularly amongst our children.
The erstwhile Permanent Secretary in the Oyo State Civil service said that he is happy that Faleti got recognition for his numerous achievements from the federal government when he was awarded officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).
He however stressed the need for the south western state to immortalise the renowned literary icon for the promotion and upliftment of the Yoruba language and culture which he lived for.
The former Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency boss, said that though Adebayo Faleti passed on at a good old age of 86 years he will be greatly missed. He prayed that God will grant the family the fortitude to bear this bereavement.
He advised them to take solace in knowing that Baba Adebayo Faleti will never be forgotten, because those who touches the hearts of the people they leave behind never dies. Raufu Olaniyan remarked that Adebayo Faleti through his work has touched our hearts and he therefore lives on.
