The Caretaker Chairman of Oorelope Local Government, Adesola Yakubu, has named a day-old baby recovered in a bush in Igboho, a community in Oyo State, Governor Seyi Makinde and his deputy Rauf Olaniyan.
According to The Nation, the baby was found about 10 pm on March 16 in a bush at Akasa area of the town by a passer-by in a carton.
His cry attracted the passerby who alerted the police and people in the neighbourhood.
“Police took the baby (with his umbilical cord) to the general hospital,” the report state.
The hospital, on Wednesday, reported to the Caretaker Chairman of Oorelope Local Government, Adesola Yakubu, during a medical outreach.
Yakubu lauded officials of the hospital for their efforts. He noted that the baby’s chances of survival would have been limited were it not for the hospital’s proactiveness in the outreach.
The chairman then named the baby after Governor Makinde, his deputy Rauf Olaniyan and the local government. The baby’s name is Moses Oluwaseyi Rauf Oorelope.
He also adopted the baby on behalf of the council.
The council is searching for the mother, Yakubu said.
