The Aare Alawo Ekun of Ofiki Land, His Royal Highness, Oba Gbenga Adigun Adeoye Oyetunji Oyinlola II JP phf has commended the Oyo state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, the Chief Justice of the state, Hon. Justice Iyabo Yerima over the commissioning of Grade ‘A’ Customary Court, Ofiki, in ATISBO local government area of the state.
The traditional ruler in a statement, on Friday, also thanked the President, Customary Court of Appeal, Oyo state, Justice Tajudeen Abdulganiyu and Former Chief Justice of the state, Honourable Justice Muhktar Ladi Abimbola rtd.
Aare Ofiki who’s also the Chairman, ATISBO Local Government Policy Advisory Committee said the court has jurisdiction to bear both criminal and civil cases.
He added that the count will also give room for alternate dispute resolution and arbitration through the native and Customary laws of the land.
He also used the opportunity to remind Governor Seyi Makinde about the bad road network from Owo to Ofiki to Irawo which is 15km. He urged the Governor to kindly consider the reconstruction of the road adding that it will ease movement of farm produce among other things.
He appreciated the chairman, ATISBO local government area, Home Bashir Olumuyiwa Alade for his presence and words of assurance. He also thanked Hon Chief Ayoola Makanjuola Joe JP for his supportive efforts.
Present at the commissioning were HRM Oba Dr Bodurin Oyetunji Kofoworola Olakanla II, the Aare Alawo Ekun of Ago-Are land, Ọba Dr Musliudeen Olalere Asaaju I, Ajorinwin of Irawo, Registrar of Customary Court of Appeal, staff of the court and others.
Amotekun, Police, Civil Defence, Local Hunters were present.
