As a starting point, it is essential to provide a background that explains the essence of this congratulatory message.
A few days ago, the Oyo State government approved the coronation of some traditional rulers and presented them with staffs of office. These traditional rulers include the Alaawe of Awe, the Onifiditi of Fiditi, and the Elempe of Tapa.
The first two rule towns in the Oyo Central senatorial district, while the last king rules a town in the Oyo South senatorial district. As a native of Awe, I join all natives at home and abroad in congratulating our king. Kabiesi ooo!!! I pray that this brings immense greatness to Awe.
I won’t hesitate to make suggestions that can advance Awe land, as is my tradition.
Education:
It has become the norm for young people to stop learning after high school. However, I have been informed that in the past, Awe prioritized education. The lack of funds is a significant reason why many do not further their education. I recommend persuading successful individuals from Awe to donate to an education fund, which can subsidize or fully sponsor education for those who wish to pursue higher education. These individuals should return home annually to share their experiences with the young ones, inspiring them to pursue their dreams. This can be included in the Awe Day itinerary.
Industrialization:
Awe land is home to Bond Group of Companies, Amo Farm Sieberer Hatchery Limited, and several SMEs. I implore you to utilize your experience as a fellow of ICAN and ACCA to attract investors to our town, creating job opportunities. Industrialization is crucial for development, and stable power supply is essential for industrial growth.
Power:
Awe, like the rest of Nigeria, faces epileptic power supply. I urge the government to improve power supply, enabling industries to grow and create jobs.
Agriculture:
Nigerian governments are now promoting massive farming to combat food inflation. I encourage subsistence and commercial farming in Awe, leveraging our town’s hardworking people.
Tourism:
Sogidi Lake, with its Ogungun tree and Iya Mopo, is our major tourist attraction. I urge the Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism to enhance the lake’s attractiveness, generating revenue for Awe’s development.
In conclusion, I call on residents and natives to contribute to Awe’s development. I specifically urge Professor Tunji Olaopa, Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission, and Engr. Seyi Makinde, who has shown respect to our king, to continue supporting our town.
I also commend the Chairman of Afijio LG, representatives in the federal constituency, state assembly, and Senator Yunus Akintunde for their efforts.
May Awe prosper! Kabiesi, k’ade ko pe lori. Ki bata pe lese. Ki irukere di okin. Ilu Awe o ni baje. Ire ooo!!! Ire kabiti!!!
