The Oyo state Pensions Board has congratulated Governor Seyi Makinde on his 5th year anniversary in office saying the milestone marks a significant period of transformation and progress in the state’s pension administration.
The Chairman of the Board, Honourable Tunji Rafiu Adekunle made this known in a statement on behalf of the board and pensioners in the state. The statement was made available to newsmen, on Wednesday, in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.
Hon. Adekunle said Makinde has made tremendous strides in addressing the long-standing challenges faced by pensioners.
He itemized some of the achievements Governor Seyi Makinde has made which include: the resuscitation of payment of pension arrears, prompt payment of monthly pensions, and release of monthly arrears have brought immense relief to retirees.
He said that the digitalization of pension documentation has also streamlined the process, ensuring efficiency and accuracy and the creation of a conducive environment for pensioners to be fully seen and heard has fostered a sense of inclusivity and respect.
The Former Minority Leader of the Oyo state House of Assembly said the establishment of a cordial relationship between pensioners and the government has promoted a culture of collaboration and understanding.
He said the inauguration of standing committees for the payment of outstanding pension and gratuity has demonstrated the government’s commitment to clearing the backlog of arrears.
He added that the promise made by His Excellency to pay all arrears before 2027 is a welcome development, and we eagerly anticipate the fulfillment of this pledge.
