2027: We Will Support Whoever You Choose – Irepo Federal Constituency Leaders Tell Makinde
">

Leaders and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have declared their resolve to continue to support the government of Governor ‘Seyi Makinde, commending it for its several pro-people projects and programmes and to vote for whoever he chooses to continue the task of developing Oyo State beyond 2027.

They maintained that PDP members in the constituency would not only continue to support Governor Makinde, they would also massively vote for whoever the governor directs them to support as governorship candidate and standard bearers for other elective posts in the 2027 general election.

Rising from a monthly stakeholders’ meeting at the instance of the Deputy Governor, Barr. Abdulraheem Bayo Lawal, which was held in held in Kisi, Irepo Local Government, the leaders noted that Governor Makinde has steered the ship of Oyo State to greater heights and that he deserves all the support he could get from the party and the teeming people of the state.

In his welcome address, former chairman of Irepo Local Government, Alhaji J.S. Amodu, hailed Governor Makinde and the Deputy Governor for running a people-centred administration, calling on PDP members to remain one.

He charged them not to be distracted by the reports of defections from the PDP, noting that “when the time comes, Nigerians will give their verdict against the APC with the way it has destroyed the country and made life unbearable for Nigerians.”

Notable leaders, including former Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Ojemuyiwa Ojekunle; PDP Senatorial Chairman (Oyo North), Hon. Yusuff Yinusa; PDP Senatorial Secretary (Oyo North), Alhaji Saminu Odedele; Chief Muritala Adeladan, also spoke about the need for the party to rally round the governor and to retake its pride of place as the winning party in each of the three local governments making up the federal constituency.

In his speech, the convener of the meeting and Special Assistant to the Governor on Irepo/Olorunsogo/Oorelope Federal Constituency, Alhaji Sarafadeen Yusuff (Al Wajud), charged the PDP in the three councils to work harder so that the party could reclaim the House of Representatives seat, which it last occupied in 2015.

He hailed the defection of notable political bigwigs to the PDP in the constituency, noting that defection of a former Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Lanre Agoro and his followers to the PDP in Oorelope LG as well as the defection of the Alhaji Yekini-led SDP in Olorunsogo LG were good omen for the party.

He called on the PDP in Irepo Local Government to also come together to attract top shots into the party with a view to ensuring that the PDP regains the number one spot in the constituency.

Chairmen of the PDP in the three local governments also gave a local government by local government report, while some of the leaders who gave goodwill speeches equally spoke on the need for the party to continue to work with one purpose ahead of future elections.

In attendance at the meeting were aides of the Deputy Governor, including Alhaji Ayinde Ogede; Mr Yusuff Ajagbe; Mr Badmos Adesola; former Member of the House of Assembly, Hon. Lukman Balogun; Board Member, Housing Corporation of Oyo State, Revd. Adeboyin Adeola; Alhaji Ayinde Ogede; Alhaji Ibrahim Tijani Omupo; PDP chairmen in the three local governments; Oorelope LG PDP Woman Leader, Mrs Modinat Adekunle, among others.

Political functionaries from Irepo, Oorelope and Olorunsogo Local Government Areas, including the three vice chairmen, supervisory councillors, councillors and special assistants were also in attendance.
