Ahead of the 2027 general election, stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State have confirmed candidates who emerged through consensus across Oyo North Senatorial District, some federal constituencies, and some state constituencies in the Oyo North Senatorial District.
The confirmation was made at a strategic stakeholders’ meeting held on Thursday in Ibadan, which had Governor Seyi Makinde, the state PDP chairman, and key party leaders from the Oke-Ogun zone in attendance, www.insideoyo.com reports.
According to party sources, the consensus arrangement was adopted to foster unity, reduce internal friction, and present formidable candidates capable of retaining and expanding PDP’s hold in the zones ahead of the polls.
Below is the list of confirmed consensus candidates:
Oyo North Senatorial District – Hon. Shina Peller
A former member of the House of Representatives for Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa Federal Constituency. Peller is a businessman and owner of Aquila Group/Club Quilox. He hails from Iseyin. He was the candidate of the Accord Party for Oyo North Senatorial District during the last General election before joining the ruling party in the state.
FEDERAL CONSTITUENCIES
Iseyin/Iwajowa/Kajola/Itesiwaju Federal Constituency – Hon. Oyedeji Oyeshina O’shine
A grassroots politician with a long history in PDP. He presently represents the federal constituency in the House of Representatives.
Irepo/Olorunsogo/Oorelope Federal Constituency – Abiodun Òní
Òní is Governor Seyi Makinde’s good friend from youth days. He is the Director-General of the Mineral Development Agency of Oyo State. He hails from Igbeti.
Saki East/Saki West/Atisbo Federal Constituency (Old Ifedapo) – Niyi Adebisi
He hails from Saki in Saki West local government area of the state. He’s currently the Oyo State Commissioner for Trade, Industry, Investment and Cooperatives.
STATE CONSTITUENCIES
Ogbomoso South State Constituency – Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin
He’s presently the Leader of the Oyo State House of Assembly
Irepo/Olorunsogo State Constituency – Ayinde Sarafadeen Sassay
He’s the present Leader of the Legislative House of the local government. He’s a business man.
Oorelope State Constituency – Jimoh Adisa Olabisi (JAO)
A community leader and party financier in Igboho, JAO has been active in PDP structures for years.
Saki West State Constituency – Salaudeen Kabeer Adebayo
He’s the councillor representing Ward 4 and the Majority Leader of the Saki West Legislative Council. He is the convener of Hope Never Dies. A NGO that recently empowered about 120 youths in Saki with agricultural tools, training.
Ogbomoso South State Constituency – Hon. Bisi Oluranti
She currently represents Ogbomoso South State Constituency at the Oyo State House of Assembly. Oluranti is recognised for her advocacy on women inclusion and social welfare programmes.
Kajola State Constituency – Olugbenga George Adetunji Victory
He hails from Okeho. He was the candidate of SDP in 2023 for the constituency.
