A group, Oke Ogun Mandate Group (OMG) has called for the shifting of power to Oke Ogun stating that rotation and shifting must be adopted to allow equal distribution of dividends of democracy and development.
The group made this known in a statement jointly signed by its chairman and secretary, Mr Azeez Raheem and Mr Joseph Akinade which was made available to newsmen on Thursday.
According to the statement, there are brilliant and highly-cerebral sons and daughters of Oyo state outside Ibadan who can complement the work done so far and can do better in spreading development especially in the Oke Ogun area of Oyo state.
The group said many states in Nigeria have allowed people outside the state capital to rule the state and have seen their capacity and ability.
The group recalled what Late Former Governor Alao Akala did when he was the Governor of the state in terms of spreading development. According to them, a move which paved way for the economical development of Ogbomoso and other zones.
The statement read in part: “In the present day democracy, people are calling for power shift at all levels. We also want to lend our voice to this by calling for power shift to other zones especially Oke Ogun area of Oyo state.
“We have brilliant and highly-cerebral sons and daughters who can pilot the affairs of this state wonderfully well. We can all see the effect of when Late Former Governor Alao Akala ruled the state. Ogbomoso and others zones will forever be grateful to the him.
“As we approach the 2023 election, we are calling on well meaning Nigerians especially Oke Ogun indigenes to join hands and support candidates from Oke Ogun in whatever post they are contesting for most especially Governorship. We must be united to develop our zone. No zone will develop with disunity. “
