As the 2023 general elections draw nearer, a chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo state, Dr. Kazeem Adesina Abidikugu has advised youths across the country, not to allow themselves to be used to destroy the country.
Abidikugu, a Nigerian UK-based Consultant Psychiatrist made this disclosure while addressing scores of youths in the state on Thursday.
He spoke while delivering his speech at a programme organised by National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Ibadan South East theme “Leveraging On Youth Demographic For the Evolution Of Good Governance”.
The PDP chieftain who was represented by Professor Olumide Olajide of the department of Adult Education, University of Ibadan, cautioned the youths against being used by politicians to be used as political thugs in 2023.
He explained that youths should use their numerical strength to turn the fortune of the country for good.
He advised them not to be used by anyone to destroy the country.
He added that youths should should do away with negative activities that can destroy the country.
“Youth is someone between 18 and 35. Youths constitute more than 65 per cent of the total population.
“Youths can contribute to the development of the country several ways.
“I will advise the youths that they should be more involved in politics. They should be more involved in good governance. They should participate in politics.
“I will advise them that they should not allow themselves to be bought over by the politicians in 2023.
“Youths should not allow themselves to be used as political thugs in 2023 and they should participate actively in politics.
“Youths should conduct themselves and participate in politics by voting in the credible people in office”.
NYCN Coordinator in Ibadan South East, Comrade Ramoni Ishola while speaking noted that the programme was organised as part of activities to mark the 2022 African youth day.
