Senator Adesoji Akanbi, representing Oyo South senatorial district, has dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC for the African Democratic Congress, ADC to save his political seat.
Akanbi has expressed wrote a complimentary and persuasive words to Governor Abiola Ajimobi seeking his favour to have second term ticket to the red chamber on the ruling APC. A position the governor is eyeing.
An aide to the Senator, Wole Ajayi, had earlier said it would be suicidal for Akanbi to compete with Ajimobi who already had the party structure in his custody.

He however said a modality was being worked out that would ensure that Akanbi returns to the Senate in 2019.
When insideOYO.com contacted the senator on Thursday, his aide who picked the call on his behalf said his principal is not available.
He denied knowledge of the defection.
Sources, however, told insideoyo.com that the Senator had perfected plans with his immediate successor in the senate, Sen. Olufemi Lanlehin and the immediate caretaker Chairman Ibadan North West local government, Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun, to engage the APC and Governor Abiola Ajimobi in a political battle for the senatorial seat.
