A lawmaker representing Oyo Central Senatorial District in the Nigeria Youth Parliament, Prince Adetayo Adekunle has visited Oluyole Local Government and the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN).
The Oyo-born youthful lawmaker, who was received by the council helmsman, Hon Adeleke James, said he decided to visit the council first before going to CRIN.
Saying that youth empowerment should be the focus of local government in the state, he charged the council boss not to relent in his efforts aimed at lifting the youths in the council.
The lawmaker, joined by the caretaker chairman and other members of his team proceeded to the premises of CRIN, Idi-Ayunre.
Received by the Institute’s Acting Executive Director, Dr Olubamiwa, the lawmaker advocated empowerment of youths through agriculture, stressing the need to adhere to the principle of indigenous quota in the employment of qualified youths by the Institute and for CRIN to have certificate awarding status.
Responding, Olubamiwa assured that the requests will be looked into while also seeking the visitors’ support in some critical areas.
On the need for CRIN to be granted certificate awarding status, Olubamiwa stressed the need for the establishment of Cocoa School where youths will receive knowledge on cocoa production and the business opportunities inherent.
Olubamiwa surprised the visitors, when he announced constitution of a technical committee for the purpose of establishing the School.
