The Ayedero of Yorubaland, Honourable Shina Abiola Peller, has expressed heartfelt congratulations to Chief Adebayo Adelabu on his nomination as the Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Honourable Peller’s congratulatory message was contained in a statement he shared on his personal social media platforms and with the press, where he decribed Chief Adelabu’s story from Oyo State gubernatorial race to his nomination as a minister as inspiring.
It would be recalled that both Chief Adelabu and Honourable Peller had left the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Accord party to contest for the 2023 Oyo State gubernatorial and Oyo North Senatorial seats respectively.
Prior to their defection, they had both alleged irregularities in the APC primaries that produced Senator Teslim Folarin and Senator Fatai Buhari as its candidates for Oyo gubernatorial and Oyo North senatorial race respectively.
However, following the result of senatorial and House of Representatives election in the state, Honourable Peller with some politicians across party line in the Oke Ogun region did not only publicly declare their support for re-election of Governor Seyi Makinde, they worked and contributed immensely to his victory at the polls.
Recall that Honourable Peller had granted an interview where he explained that he took the decision for certain reasons one of which he said was to satisfy the interest of his supporters and the people in Oke Ogun.
Similarly, he had reasoned that because Accord couldn’t produce a single House of Representatives member and senator in the previous election, the possibility of winning the gubernatorial election was very slim.
Also in his congratulatory message, Honourable Peller recalled that he had told Chief Adelabu repeatedly that he (Adelabu) would be given a ministerial appointment if he lose the gubernatorial race. “Thank God today, that postulation is now a reality,” Ayedero said.
His statement read in full:
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to my brother Chief Adebayo Adelabu on his appointment as a ministerial nominee and successful screening.
“His story from the governorship race to his nomination as a minister is truly inspiring. Like I had said to him before the election that if we lose the gubernatorial race, he would be given a ministerial appointment; thank God today that postulation is now a reality.
