A chieftain of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), Engr. Hakeem Alao, has declared that the Oyo park management system will never put an end to the unrest, violence and chaos associated with the leadership of NURTW in the state.
Engr. Alao, in a statement on Monday, pointed out that it was not the duty of the state government to appoint park managers for motor parks across the state, saying it is the duty of the local government to construct and manage parks.
The AD chieftain maintained that the PMS policy of the Governor Makinde-led administration will never lay to rest the likely unrest, violence and chaos associated with the leadership of NURTW in the state, saying, ” the recently introduced Park Management System in Oyo state was wrong and nothing but a misplaced priority.”
“The newly introduced Park Management System (PMS) is a good policy but, again, not well thought out and delivered. Apart from the fact that park construction, management and operations is a constitutional duty of the local government housed under Fourth Schedule, 1 (f) of the 1999 Constitution, it has been clear that the state government was all out to compensate a faction of the state’s NURTW and this has not been fair enough for a government portraying itself as honest and sincere.”
Engr. Alao added that any public officer, career officer, elected or appointed who says local governments hold motor parks in trust for the state government is only saying another thing.
“It is a lie, an encroachment and an attempt to usurp the power of that tier of government. PMS as constituted across the state now has never laid to rest and will never lay to rest the likely unrest, violence and chaos associated with the leadership of NURTW in the state.”
