The Minister of Youths and Sports Development in Nigeria, Mr Sunday Dare has said that Governor Seyi Makinde has done well in the last over three and half years particularly in the area of youths and sports development.
This was as the minister also expressed optimism that given another chance, Makinde would do more for the state.
The minister said these while playing host to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Candidate who contested Oyo North seat in the last Presidential and National Assembly Election, Honourable Akinwale Akinwole On Thursday at his Ogbomosho residence.
The meeting according to the PDP chieftain was to seek the support of the minister towards the actualization of Makinde’s reelection bid for a second term of office.
Sunday Dare, who is the Agbaakin of Ogbomosoland is also a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo state.
In his remarks, Hon Akinwale affirmed that the essence of his visit to the minister was to seek the his support for Governor Seyi Makinde’s re-election.
Westernmirror.com.ng gathered that there have been allegations and counter allegations in the Oyo state chapter of the APC following the party’s governorship candidate in the March 18 election, Senator Teslim Folarin’s perceived lack of support from the minister and others within APC in the state.
In the words of Hon. Akinwale otherwise known as Wolekanle, “Gov Makinde shared the same vision with Hon Dare in the area of Youths and sports development and it would be nice if the Minister can use his influence to enhance Governor’s re-election.
“I know you are in the opposition party, but as the Agbaakin of Ogbomosoland, I am convinced that your support will go a long way in enhancing Governor Makinde’s victory at the poll.
The minister in his response said he would continue to be grateful to the Ogbomoso people for their support for Asiwaju Tinubu in the last election and he will be part of anything that would promote unity and equity.
“I acknowledge Governor Makinde’s giant stride in youths and sports development, he has done well and I believe he would do more”.
