In furtherance of Governor Seyi Makinde’s vision of building a more efficient, people-oriented and development-driven Oyo State, the Chairman, Oyo State Local Government Service Commission, Bashorun Akinwale Solomon Akinwole (Wolekan), has led a delegation of local government staff to Istanbul, Turkey, for an international capacity-building programme on leadership and governance.
The training programme, themed “Strengthening Local Governance for Sustainable Development: Enhancing Leadership for High Performance,” is being organised by Clear Corporation, a knowledge management company, and is scheduled to hold from February 2 to 7, 2026.
Speaking on the significance of the programme, Akinwole said the initiative aligns with the Makinde administration’s commitment to continuous training and retraining of public servants as a pathway to improved service delivery at the grassroots.
According to him, the programme is designed to deepen participants’ understanding of modern governance practices, strengthen leadership capacity, and expose them to global best practices in local administration and sustainable development.
“In line with Governor Seyi Makinde’s vision for a better Oyo State, I led a delegation of local government staff to Istanbul, Turkey, for a training programme on Strengthening Local Governance for Sustainable Development, designed to enhance leadership capacity and high performance,” Akinwole said.
He explained that the exposure would further equip local government personnel with the requisite knowledge.
