Why Makinde Wants To Give LAUTECH Multi-Campus Status - Media Aide
">

The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Taiwo Adisa has said that the plan of the State government to run the State’s solely owned LAUTECH on multi-Campus arrangement should not be seen as a move that is meant to weaken a particular zone of the State as being rumored in some quarters.

Reacting to agitations in some quarters especially Ogbomoso Zone about an Executive bill which is before the Oyo State House of Assembly which seeks to give LAUTECH multi-Campus status on BOTTOM LINE today anchored by Aanuoluwapo Omorinde, the Governor’s Spokesperson recalled how a former Governor and a Leader of the APC in Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala while campaigning for his governorship bid in 2011 which he lost to late Governor Abiola Ajimobi promised to run LAUTECH with a multi-Campus structure if given the mandate by the people at that time.

He wondered why the genuine intention of the State government is being misconstrued, submitting that it is the handiwork of mischief Makers.

According to him, ” the plan of the government is to run LAUTECH conventionally. For instance, the only institution in Oyo State that offers LAW as a course in this State is the University of Ibadan and UI is for everybody. Osun State University offers Law as a Course. Are we saying Oyo State cannot achieve that?”.
I am from Ogbomoso and I can tell you that the agitations is just from a group of people”.

Justifying the extension of the tenure of the Caretaker Chairmen for a period of three months by the Governor, Adisa said “you will agree with me that the Coronavirus pandemic affected so many things. No one could achieve anything tangible hence, the extention”.

When asked when the planned local government election will be coming up, he asked everyone to await the announcement of a date by OYSIEC.

On the delay in the distribution of appointment letter to the newly appointed successful TESCOM Teaching Applicants, he assured everyone whose names have been published to bear with the Oyo State Teaching Service Commission as it perfects plan to give them their appointment letters with an assurance that their appointment is secured.

When asked what the State government is doing to address the insecurity in the Pace Setter State amidst growing concern, Adisa noted that until the Federal government addresses insecurity at the Centre, efforts of the State may not yield much fruits. He however submitted that in an unprecedented manner, the State government is fortifying the State security architecture.

He noted that the State government under the watch of Governor Seyi Makinde will not relent in its efforts to transform the State for good.
