Adewale Aliu Waheed popularly known as AD Gun has disclosed why he recorded a hit song titled Ibadan and how he rose to stardom from being a welder to a renowned artiste in the world.
Adewale has led a revolution in the world’s music industry – and set a standard.
He is a prosperous business man, song writer and music artiste, who has carved a niche for himself in Nigeria and the United States.
The US-based versatile Nigerian artiste who lives at Sacramento, California works with the most comprehensive marina builder in the world, and he is also an IT expert that just got certified as a scrum master in the IT section.
While speaking on the success of his career, the Ibadan born disclosed that he worked for years with his father at Waheed Adisa Technical Engineering Work located at Shasha, Ibadan even when he started music officially in 2009. He added that he realized all the resources he used to process all the productions he made in the music industry for the first two years from the workshop.
“I do a lot of things. When I was in Nigeria, I used to work as a welder. I worked with my father for couple of years. I’m a professional welder, as a matter of fact, I managed the company and I realized all the resources I used to process all the productions I made in the music industry for the first two years was from the workshop”, he said.
When speaking on his journey into the entertainment world, AD Gun said, “Zee world was one of those that God used for me. He was a prominent artiste and producer who was from Shasha, where I came. Zee world was the one that owned the studio that the likes of Clever Jay, O Black, Skaliey Mental and even Lace, Mr. Enny used to record their songs
“I approached him and I told him that, I love music, I want to do it. Then, I had like two friends from where I came from who had already recorded songs in his studio and they were really doing well. I was inspired and felt like if they could do it, I could do it too. During that time, I heard the song by eLDee The Don, champion in 2007, the song really gingered me to go to the studio to record. And that was when I decided to summon the courage in 2009, went to Lagos to produce my first single titled Good day featuring Zee world and Mr. Enny.
“The song was recorded on the day Michael Jackson passed away, and the song gave me passion from that day on, may his gentle soul rest in perfect peace”.
Adewale Aliu revealed that he had produced a lot of songs.
Mr. Adewale, one of the prominent songwriters and artists in the world has contributed immensely to the growth and development of Nigeria.
He therefore urged Nigerian artists in the Diaspora to come home, adding that it is important to give back to their sources.
As part of his contributions to the society, AD Gun said he has been reaching out to up and coming artistes around him in many ways.
When asked about the rationale being the Ibadan song, he said, “I did the song to regain my followers and fans as well as do something for the grassroots from where they know me. Ever since the song has been released, everything has drastically changed for good as people that had disconnected from me are getting back.
“I’ve also been meeting new people who I didn’t even know they are from Ibadan”.
The afro singer noted that the first video to expect from his EP Album Sasa 2 Sacramento which is titled California would soon be shot in San Francisco, California by one of the best video directors in California, from the Bay area.
He stated that 2022 is going to be about collaboration on music and videos, emphasizing that Ibadan music video is going to be a collaboration with A and B list artistes in Nigeria
