Taiwo Adisa, the Chief Press Secretary to Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde has explained how to get tested at the Adamasingba Walk In Test Centre For COVID-19 in Ibadan, the state capital.
This is in reaction to a story that the Centre can only attend to anyone with a text message.
In a series of tweets seen by InsideOyo.com, the media aide said the procedure laid down by Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) is for anyone to first put a call through to any of the COVID-19 helplines – 08095394000; 08095963000; 08078288999; 08078288800.
After which a text message conveying a code would appear on the phone with code to gain access to the centre.
Adisa said the protocol designed by the EOC is to streamline the testing procedure and ensure that correct data of every sample is established even before the candidate arrived at the testing centre.
“The EOC, in trying to ensure that the testing centre is not saddled with the task of testing samples and also keeping of records, had designed electronic form which harnesses details of the would-be sample. A code is generated after the form is filled.
“Once a candidate presents his or her code at the gate, he goes through the protocol, the sample is tagged and the EOC handles the rest,” he explains.
Last week, Governor Makinde flagged off the COVID-19 Drive/Walk Through a Testing programme in the state aimed at controlling the spread of the virus.
While speaking at the flag-off of the programme in Ibadan, Governor Makinde said 2,000 people would be tested during the exercise that would last for two weeks.
He disclosed that the aspiration of his government was to test up to 10,000 people within the shortest possible time.
InsideOyo.com gathered that the centre had tested more than 300 people so far as at today, April 21.
