We Have Good Rapport With Makinde – Olatoye Sugar Memorial Foundation, Says No Rancour Within Family

The Olatoye Sugar Memorial Foundation (OSMF) and Olatoye Sugar Political Dynasty have dispelled rumours that there’s crisis within the political dynasty and the foundation adding that they have a very good rapport with the Oyo state Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde.

Speaking on Saturday with the Southwest Group of Online Publishers (SWEGOP) in Ibadan, the spokesman of the Foundation, Mr Gabriel Olatoye said members of the political dynasty across the state are united and that the foundation has been working in line with the dream of the founder.

Recall that Olatoye Temitope Sugar was killed after casting his vote in the governorship election of Saturday, March 9, 2019. Before his demise, he was representing Akinyele, Lagelu federal constituency.

Gabriel Olatoye also hailed the Seyi Makinde-led PDP government adding that the Olatoye Sugar political dynasty will officially joined the People Democratic Party, at the local government level on Thursday having earlier joined at the state level.

He said the event which is for Oyo Central Senatorial District will take place at the party secretariat at Lalupon in Ibadan, the state capital.

He said: “Late Olatoye Temitope Sugar has always been a friend of everyone; friend of the media, less privileged, masses, irrespective of anybody’s social class. And we that he has left behind, we felt that it should be necessary for us to continue his good work. We believe we cannot do this alone without having the media. In every little area that we have tried to contribute for the upliftment of the society, you are the ones that will let the whole world know. We want to have you as friends, not to unnecessarily encourage you to patronize us but to report our event and constructively criticize what we do when needed. So we need you to collaborate with us on how we can get better.

“Relatively, the Governor has been fair to us. We have been given invitation several times. We have had numerous discussion and he has promised us. Although, as we speak, there is no member of Olatoye Temitope Sugar family that has gotten appointment. There is no rancour within the family and foundation as to who will take what. We are ready for any when called upon, we are one.

“A lot of people will wander why we are still staying in the party despite this. Between you and I, there are just two political parties. The multi party system we are running, we are only deceiving ourselves. In reality, we have PDP or APC.

“To be honest with you, we still believe strongly that our ideology go along with that of the PDP as we speak and that’s why we are in alignment with the PDP government-led by the Governor Seyi Makinde. There is a good rapport between us and we strongly believe that we won’t be disappointed.

“Having join at the state level, we have instructed our members at all levels to go and join the PDP. And on Thursday, we will declare at Lagelu local government being the headquarters of Olatoye Sugar foundation. Leaders of the party across board, high profile state government personalities will also be present. If not for Ondo election, the Governor would have been there but certain critical members of the cabinet will be there.”

Also speaking, the Chairman of the foundation, Chief Olusina Olajide popularly known as Big Daddy called for the need for media support in the activities of foundation and for members of the political dynasty.

Big Daddy appreciated the efforts of the Chairman, Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency, OYSROMA, Hon Kamil Akinlabi; Popular On Air Personalty at Freshfm, Mr Mayor Isaac Brown and Mr Tunde Tijani.

He added that these people have been with the family and the foundation before and after the demise of Hon Olatoye Temitope Sugar.

Present at the event was also the National Patron of the foundation, Hon Muftau Abiodun Badmos who also sought media support.

“We can work together. We know and have seen the power of the media. Don’t be surprised, some people will sit down somewhere and with the help of the media, people will be looking for them. So, we are trying to seek your support. We can be wrong. Only God is perfect. So just draw our attention to it.” he said.
