A Professor of Social and Environmental Forestry at the University of Ibadan (UI), Prof. Opeyemi Ajewole has been assassinated in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Ajewole was killed on his way home on Monday night.

A colleague of the deceased who confirmed the incident said the Ajewole was killed by suspected assassins on his way home.
“It is true. He was killed last night while returning home. They shot him and took his car. He was my friend.
“I just confirmed from a member of his Faculty now,” the lecturer said.

Also, the Principal Assistant Registrar, Public Communications of at the institution, Joke Akinpelu, when contacted, confirmed the incident.
“Yes, it is true. He was killed yesterday,” she said.
