The University of Ibadan (UI) has been adjudged the best university in West Africa and one of the top 500 in the world, according to Times Higher Education (THE) 2020 report.
The report released on Wednesday, September 2, 2020, ranked UI in the 401 to 500 band.
“This is our best performance since 2016 when the University of Ibadan started featuring on the highly respected and prestigious ranking and despite a fiercer competition engendered by an increase in the number of universities assessed worldwide,” the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Idowu Olayinka said.
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings are the only global performance tables that judge research-intensive universities across all their core mission: teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook.
“We acknowledge with thanks the support of the federal government and the Ministry of Education,” Prof Olayinka concludes.
