Four persons were injured on Monday when a two-storey building collapsed at Abangbe compound, Inalende, in Ibadan North West Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The incident, which occurred at 7:00a.m, threw residents of the area into panic.
Following the collapse, residents immediately rushed to the scene, where they succeeded in rescuing four occupants of the building, who are currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
Confirming the incident to the Nigerian Tribune, Head of Abangbe family, Chief Sikirulai Abdulahi, said the incident occurred at 7:00a.m., adding that no life was lost.
He said the four persons injured were recuperating at a nearby hospital.
Chief Abdulahi said: “I received a call from a member of the family that one of our family houses had gone under. I was shocked to hear the news. We converged on the same building for a family meeting last Sunday and there was no prior sign as you can see the bricks from the debris that they were solid. It was a sudden incident.
“The rescue team from the neighbourhood lend helping hands. Four inhabitants of the building were rescued. Though they were seriously injured, they are responding to treatment.
“Properties were lost, but to the glory of God, no life was lost. I am appealing to government to ensure proper channelisation of water in the neighbourhood. Most of the buildings in the neighbourhood are ageing.”
