A former Deputy Gubernatorial Candidate and Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Oyo state, Prof. Abideen Olaiya has said that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the right man to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
Prof. Olaiya stated this on Monday while featuring on Raypower 95.1 FM popular current affairs program called POLITICS TODAY.
When asked by Olayemi Afolabi, the presenter of the program, if Asiwaju Tinubu has what it takes to raise the living standards of Nigerians as the president of Nigeria, the University Don said “Asiwaju Tinubu has every presidential quality needed to pilot Nigeria to greater height. He has demonstrated capacity for democracy and for good governance. The template Tinubu set for Lagos is second to none and is being faithfully followed by successive governors of Lagos state.
“You know Tinubu has been around since MKO Abiola era in the early 90s? He has paid his dues politically and administratively. Mutual agreement is mutual agreement, it may be written or unwritten, United kingdom uses unwritten laws and the operators faithfully kept faith with it”.
Commenting on same joint religious presidential ticket, Prof. Abideen Olaiya said “Nigerians have never bothered about religion of their leaders but about good governance, Obafemi Awolowo and Ladoke Akintola were Christians and they governed well. Lateef Jakande, second republic governor of Lagos state and his deputy were Muslims and they delivered. Kaduna state governor Nusru El rufai and his deputy are Muslims. MKO Abiola and his running mate Babagana Kingebe were Muslims yet they won elections nationwide.
In a related development, when asked about the leadership of the APC in the state and who the chairman is. Olaiya declared that the Oyo APC chairman is Chief Issac Omodewu.
“Chief Issac Omodewu is the duly elected APC State Chairman for Oyo state” Olaiya declared.
