Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has said that appointments into his administration is “work in progress.”
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, quoted the Governor as dismissing insinuations that his government was shutting out some of the coalition parties, especially the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
A number of political parties had joined hands with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the build-up to the March 9, 2019 election to ensure victory for the Governor who flew the PDP flag.
The statement quoted Governor Makinde as saying: “Let me assure all our partners that governance is work in progress. Those that have not been reached, we will still reach them. As they say, Rome was not built in one day.”
The Oyo State House of Assembly on Thursday unveiled a list of 14 Commissioner designates sent to the House by Governor Seyi Makinde.
Reports indicated that some political actors are interpreting the action as having shut out especially, the ZLP and the SDP.
In assuring everyone that the formation of government is work in progress, Governor Makinde declared that his government would continue to operate an open-door policy which is rooted in probity and accountability.
“We will always appreciate our partners just as we will remain focussed on our goal of redefining good and open governance in Oyo State. We are willing and ready to bring on board any well-meaning persons who will readily key into the Service Agenda of our administration. Let me restate once again that the formation of the structures of government remains work in progress,” the governor said.
