In a bid to widening the level of skill acquisition and technical education in Nigeria, the management of the Polytechnic Ibadan, on Wednesday recieved the accreditation team from the National Board of Technical Education (NBTE) for the resource accreditation of 10 newly programs introduced by the institution.
The team were officially recieved at an opening ceremony which was held at CIBN hall by the mangement, led Rector Kazeem Adebiyi, Registrar, Mrs Theresa Fawole, Dean of faculties, Head of Departments and others
The accreditation team lead Director of Polytechnic Programme NBTE Kaduna, Arch. Ngbede Ogor, representative of NBTE Zonal Director, Dr John Onyebuchi and other resource persons from different institutions, NBTE and professional bodies.
Some of the new courses includes Material and Metallurgy Engineering, Mineral, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Reources Engineering, Polymar, Food technology pharmaceutical Technology, Taxation, Tourism, Photography and others
The Institution Rector. Professor Kazeem Adebiyi in his welcome remark said: “We realize that there is need for us to move with the trend of development in the technical education and skill acquisition and that is why we are expanding with the fresh courses.
On the level of preparation for the accreditation , Adebiyi said “we have made adequate preparation for the program and i believe by the time you are done you will appreciate and give good recommends about all our new programs for proper accreditation”.
Leader of the Team, Arch. Ngbede Ogor, in his brief remark said this institution has stood a test of time having being established about 53years ago. He said that “from what we have been seen so far. One can convincingly say old wine tastes better.”
He commended the Adebiyi-led administration for desiring the growth and expansion of the institution.
He urged the academic staffs to make themselves available and corporate with the accreditation team in their respective departments.
