The Oyo State Government has partnered with private sector organisations to support the 2026 edition of the Ibadan Head Girl Conference, a leadership summit that will host 300 female student leaders from across the Ibadan zone.
The conference, organised by the FAME Foundation, will bring together 300 Head Girls drawn from 300 secondary schools across the 11 local government areas in Ibadan for what stakeholders described as a transformative leadership and mentorship experience.
The initiative is being backed by the Oyo State Student Affairs and the Oyo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in collaboration with Starks Associates and the Nigerian Bottling Company.
According to the organisers, the summit is designed to nurture young female leaders by equipping them with critical skills in leadership, civic responsibility, innovation, personal development and community impact.
The 2026 edition marks the third in the series and is projected to be the largest since the programme was launched in 2024. Since inception, the conference has impacted hundreds of female student leaders across the 11 LGAs in Ibadan.
Speaking on the partnership, stakeholders said the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to advancing girl-child education, promoting gender inclusion and fostering youth development in Oyo State.
This publication understands that conference will feature keynote addresses, interactive workshops and mentorship sessions aimed at strengthening participants’ confidence, academic excellence and leadership capacity.
The organisers said attendees would also benefit from career guidance sessions, networking opportunities with policymakers, educators and corporate leaders, as well as recognition and awards for outstanding students.
Officials of the Oyo State Student Affairs office noted that the agency remains committed to serving as a bridge between the government and students by prioritising welfare, academic support and youth empowerment initiatives.
Similarly, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology reiterated its mandate to oversee educational policy, quality assurance and institutional management across primary and secondary schools, adding that initiatives such as the Head Girl Conference align with its broader vision of building responsible and forward-looking student leaders.
Corporate partners also expressed support for the initiative, describing it as a strategic investment in human capital development. Representatives of Starks Associates said empowering young female leaders is critical to driving innovation and sustainable growth, while the Nigerian Bottling Company reaffirmed its commitment to supporting community-focused educational programmes.
