The FAME Foundation Empowers Over 300 Girls In Oyo State For A Brighter Future

The FAME Foundation has held its much-anticipated International Day of the Girl Event 2025 in collaboration with the St Louis Ibadan Old Girls Association Ibadan Chapter. The one-day collaboration event was held on October 9th, 2025, at the St Louis Girls Grammar School, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.

FAME recognizes that girls need role models to help them become their best selves. This laudable initiative, themed “The Girl I am, The Change I need,” aligns with the United Nations General Assembly’s Resolution 66/170, adopted on December 19, 2011, which established the International Day of the Girl Child.

Over 300 senior girls could connect with and learn from the most inspiring women leaders.

This year’s event covered several activities, including inspiring talk sessions, competitions and masterclasses, led by the girls and inspiring Alumni of St Louis in Oyo State and Nigeria.

Some of the distinguished guests and speakers at the event include Mrs Bukola Ogunyemi, Proprietor of Ebire Schools, and Program Administrator, Centre for Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Mrs Temilola Yusuf.

Raphael Stephen, Executive Director of The FAME Foundation, said: “Girls are envisioning and shaping the future. When girls are empowered to be changemakers, not only do their lives change, but so do their communities. Our goal is to empower girls to be changemakers in their schools and communities, who understand their role as changemakers and inspire their peers with positivity. We are equipping them to become powerful role models for younger girls who have yet to recognize their own leadership potential. Through this initiative, we can accelerate progress toward a future where every girl can envision and fulfil her potential. The FAME Foundation will continue to invest boldly in the leadership development of girls, amplifying their voices, and we recommit to working together to build a world where every girl can lead and thrive.”

Cash prizes, refreshments, and sanitary towels, sponsored by the FAME Foundation and the SLIOGA Ibadan Chapter, were given to the participants.

In nearly a decade, the FAME Foundation has directly impacted over 25,000 girls and indirectly reached 50,000 girls across more than 200 schools in Nigeria. The foundation has trained and equipped them with leadership skills, enabling them to discover their identity, become problem solvers, take on greater leadership opportunities, and become changemakers in their communities.

The FAME Foundation believes that through deliberate investments in girls’ education, we can foster a brighter future for girls and our nation. The FAME Foundation has built a commendable record of accomplishment for nearly a decade by delivering high-quality leadership programmes to secondary school students across Nigeria.

Commenting, the inspiring principal of St Louis Grammar School, Dr Oyeyemi Shadare, appreciated the foundation for celebrating the girls of the school and also awarded a badge of honor to Mr Raphael Stephen, Founder of the FAME Foundation. She said, “This is the 2nd edition of the St Louis Day of the Girls program, and we are glad to sustain our partnership with the FAME Foundation. Our girls experienced a mind-shift, discovered their identity, began to envision, raised their ambitions, and now believe they have the power to create change wherever they find themselves.”

The FAME Foundation Day of the Girl Initiative is an innovative platform for amplifying the voices of girls and advancing the cause of the girl child education in Oyo State and Nigeria.
