My last write up titled “Aare Gani Adams’ ISIS Terrorists Threat And Controversy in Okeogun, Oyo State” has generated a lot of reactions, some good, some bad but with commendations higher than condemnations. I thank you all, those that had read, or read and commented. I also implore those that have not, to please do. Security is our collective responsibilities and must be taken as priority.
Of the lots, security comes first in the administration of a nation or a state. Nigeria becomes a nation because all Nigerian leaders are sworn in with a pledge to protect the lives and properties of Nigerian citizens within and outside the country.
United Nations, as a world organization, was formed to promote peace and tranquility all over the world. Where there’s insecurity, there will be no peace. So, the development of a nation depends on how peaceful the country is. Security and peace is therefore very paramount from whatever angle we look at it.
Security network is one of the biggest multi billion dollars businesses all over the world. Yes. Security is a business! As citizens, we pay taxes and government levies to maintain the police, armed forces and even secret service agencies. In the same manner, there are lot of private security outfits offering services and even goods like various gadgets we uses on daily basis. The importance of security in human lives cannot be over emphasized.
By my afore referred write up, some took it as an attack on personality or discountenance of the key opinions’ observations. That was not it. I did not call for the head of our Aare Onakakanfo, nor that of Rtd Brig Gen Kunle Togun. I only want to play it low in order not to turn it to international security business.
Briefly, one thing people do not know about the personality of Baba Togun is that, he is just a complete gentleman, with heart filled with love for humanity and friendship. If you ask him about my name, he may not remember but if I have course to go to Baba Togun house today, he would gladly open door for me, with best hospitality and we will discuss many things until one is tired. Issues like security, politics, Baba’s military years and traditional issues in Saki and Okeogun, even religion too but on a liberal mood. That’s Rtd Brig Gen Kunle Togun for you, but many people thinks Baba Togun is a hard nuts to crack. Baba Togun is very delightful to discuss with. He talks with authority and certainty until you’re able to give him a counter and superior argument. He loves Saki is hometown, Okeogun, Oyo State and Nigeria with passion.
Clearly speaking, my stand on the issue of the allegations of presence of terrorists in Okeogun is that I would not want the region turned to a war zone for some people to make money. Anywhere insurgency occurred, IDPC – Internally Displaced Persons Camps will be opened by the federal government or the international community.
I have had course to visit IDPC center at Oru Ijebu in Ogun State some 20years ago, where Liberian war displaced people were then camped. If you know what happens in such camps, one will be tempted or prefer to invite Fulani cows to eat his farm and resolve amicably instead of escalating a crisis. Insurgency is not a child’s play. The Taraba people, Benue, Southern Kaduna, Zamfara, Borno and Yobe States where IDPC centers are still being maintained or new one opens, will pray such to never happen to their enemies. Oh. God, never allow this kind of situation to happen in any part of Yoruba land. Amin
Insurgency is a product of external influence. It is usually started with this kind of rubbish talks such as; United States of America intelligence say bla bla bla, a militant group threatened, a regional local militant head say this and that…. Before we knows, things will start to boomerang! We reject it in Okeogun in Jesus name!
More than ever, our people have started getting themselves prepared and I strongly believed God’s willing Okeogun will speak with one voice to confront any attack on our soil. I therefore implore our traditional rulers, community leaders, political office holders and all sons and daughters of Okeogun, home and abroad to become more vigilant, proactive and cry out any suspicious move from any quarters.
