The Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW) has expressed its heartfelt condolences to the family and relatives of the late Yoruba literary icon, Alagba Adebayo Faleti.
A press release signed by Mr. Wole Adedoyin, the President of SYNW on Tuesday, said they received the news of the late literary icon with shock and pray that his soul will rest in eternal peace.
The late Adebayo Faleti who wrote, produced and acted a number of movies, which include Thuderbolt, Magun (2001), Afonja (1 &2), 2002, Basorun Gaa (2004), and Sawo-Sogberi (2005) passed on to glory on the 23rd of July 2017 at the ripeful age of 86.
The release further described the deceased, who died at the age of 86 as a “literary colossus who advanced Yoruba literature beyond our imagination” the statement added.
The literary body also expressed their condolences to the current Executive Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi and to the people of the pen community for the loss of the literary icon.
