SkillHer, a women-focused community dedicated to helping women lead healthy and thriving lives through capacity-building and career advancement initiatives, has successfully executed another impactful program.
The Skills Acquisition Workshop (SAW) is in collaboration with the Development Research and Projects Centre (dRPC), with support from the Ford Foundation.
The initiative trained 100 young women in practical digital and business skills essential for employability and entrepreneurship.
Over several intensive sessions, participants gained hands-on experience in web development, social media management, sales and marketing, and graphics design, learning how to build digital visibility, craft business strategies, and create compelling visual content for brands.
Participants described the experience as transformative.
“The Sales and Marketing session transformed my mindset, giving me the confidence to proudly own my business and strive for excellence,” said Deborah Omotayo.
Another participant, Dorcas Isawumi, shared that she “developed valuable skills in website design and acquired foundational knowledge in basic coding.”

The completion of the Skills Acquisition Workshop marks another milestone in SkillHer’s ongoing effort to close gender gaps in access to skills and economic opportunity.
By enabling young women to turn knowledge into value, SkillHer continues to shape a generation of confident, capable women who are not only job-ready but are creating change in their communities and beyond.
