A member of the House of Representatives from Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa federal constituency, Honourable Shina Peller, has identified with his people’s plight on the deplorable state of Iseyin/Oyo road, which necessitated the ongoing indefinite strike by the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) plying the route.
In a statement issued and signed by his Press Secretary, Kola Popoola, Hon. Peller expressed his dismay on the hardship the deplorable state of Iseyin/Oyo road and Iseyin/Ibadan road have continuously subjected the people to, and assured the people that various efforts that are being made towards making the government fix the roads will be fruitful soon.
Hon. Peller said,
“The deplorable state of Iseyin/Oyo road and Iseyin/Ibadan road is very disheartening to me. I pass through these roads very often, and I also feel the pains that my people go through daily plying the roads.
“I have been making various efforts through my office to draw prompt attention of the government towards fixing the roads and I’m very sure that these efforts will yield positive results soon.”
In a similar development, following the indefinite strike members of the NURTW in the affected area have embarked upon since Monday due to the poor condition of the road, Hon. Peller realises the difficulty this action may subject the people to, and therefore contacted leaders of the NURTW yesterday to urge them to call off the strike.
Hon. Peller, through his office, contacted the NURTW chairmen of the Oyo Zone 2 Iseyin, Mr. Ipadeola and Oyo East (Owode Park), Mr. Ismail Oluaye and appealed to them to reconsider their decision in the interest of the masses.
Consequently, Hon. Peller’s conversations with these two unit chairmen triggered off a visit by the delegates of the NURTW (Iseyin Branch) to his constituency office in Iseyin today.
The delegates, led by the overall chairman of the four units in Iseyin, Mr. Adeniyi Tajudeen, explained that the visit was necessary as a way of appreciating Hon. Peller for his concern and prompt reaction, as well as making the government see the urgent need for the repair of the road.
