Oyo state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde has pledged continuous government support for the State and Federal Fire Services so as to further enhance their efficiency in the discharge of their duties.
The Governor made this pledge today when the Zonal Commander Zone F, Federal Fire Service Kamarudeen Ajasa made a courtesy call to the Governor’s office in agodi.
Governor Makinde speaking through his Deputy, Engr. Rauf Olaniyan, noted the state fire service in the state was abandoned for 8years by the previous administration, a situation which has limited the capacity of the fire stations in discharge of its statutory duties.
He stressed that the welfare and protection of lives and property of residents are paramount to the present administration hence the procurement of new fire trucks and other fire fighting equipments.
Speaking further, the Governor urged people to continue to observe strict Covid-19 protocols put in place by the government. Governor Makinde promised to empower every other state agencies in the state.
Earlier in his address, the Zonal Commander, Federal Fire Services, Comptroller Kehinde Ajasa, stated that the visit was to notify Oyo State Government of the forth coming visit of the General Commander, Federal Fire Services, Alh. Liman Ibrahim for the Official Commissioning of Two Fire Trucks deployed to the state. He added, the deployment of the trucks was to complement efforts of the Oyo State Government in combating fire outbreak.
The Zonal Commander, however commended Governor Makinde’s efforts in empowering fire Services in the state. The highlight of the visit was a presentation of gift to Comptroller by the Deputy Governor Engr. Raufu Olaniyan.
