The Oyo State Chapter of Peoples Democratic Party has congratulated Muslims and other faithful in Oyo State, Nigeria and across the world on the occasion of the 2020 Eid-el-Kabir.
The party in her felicitation statement in Ibadan the Oyo State Capital on 31st of July 2020, through the State Publicity Secretary, Engr Akeem Olatunji, said, ‘As we celebrate Allah’s benevolence, it is important for us to pause and reflect on the significance of this celebration, which highlights the need for sacrifice and the benefits thereof’.
‘By his willingness to sacrifice his son in fulfilment of his earlier promise to Almighty Allah, Prophet Ibrahim(ASW) demonstrated the need for us to be willing to make sacrifices for our desired goals & faithful to our pledges.”This lesson couldn’t have been timelier as the present situation in the country is such that calls for sacrifices on the part of all Nigerians but especially by those in positions of responsibility” the statement said.
The Oyo State PDP, in her statement, also calls on Islamic faithfuls, as they proceed to the various Eids,to seek for Allah’s divine intervention in prayers for an end to this COVID-19 Pandemic, which explains why the Governor Seyi Makinde led PDP administration encourage Muslims in the State to observe Eid prayer in strict compliance to the COVID-19 safety protocols and used the opportunity to pray for our State and the country at large.
“We are confident that with prayers and the needed sacrifices, Allah will show us mercy and intervene to solve the Coronavirus pandemic ravaging the entire world and our current economic challenges.
PDP also commended Governor Seyi Makinde for the facelift received by the Ibadan Central Eid Praying Ground for the first time in 9 years as neatness is next to Godliness. It’s noteworthy that the PDP Governor Seyi Makinde led Oyo State Government, in appreciation of the need for a beautiful environment for Oyo State Muslims to worship Almighty Allah ordered the renovation and rehabilitation of the entire praying ground, sinking of a functional borehole and rehabilitation of other basic facilities which was carried out through the Hon Ibrahim Akintayo led Ibadan North- East Local Government administration to demonstrate GSM genuine love and respect for the Muslims.
‘We wish our Muslim brothers and, indeed, all Oyo State citizens and fellow Nigerians, happy Eid-el-Kabir’.
