A member of the House of Representatives from Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa federal constituency, Oyo State, Hon. Shina Peller, has congratulated Muslim faithfuls in his constituency and Nigeria at large on the occasion of the Eid-al-Adha celebration.
Hon. Peller’s goodwill message was contained in a statement released by his Press Secretary, Kola Popoola, where he asked all to reflect on the genesis of Ileya celebration for the purpose of encouraging faithfulness, good deed, trust and patience.
Similarly, Hon. Peller expressed optimism that with all the supplications made by Muslims during this Salah period, God will help cleanse the country and the world at large of the COVID-19 pandemic that has posed a big threat to lives since its outbreak.
However, Hon. Peller reminded all that the war against the deadly COVID-19 isn’t over yet, and urged them to observe social distancing and other guidelines as laid down by the government and health organizations.
The statement read:
“I congratulate fellow Muslim brothers and sisters on the occasion of the 2020 Eid-al-Adha celebration.
“Eid-al-Adha (Ileya) is celebrated purposely to honour the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim, otherwise known as Abraham in the bible (Peace be unto him), to sacrifice his only son, Ismail as an act of obedience to God’s command. The merciful God that didn’t allow Ibrahim to sacrifice his son, but provided a lamb to sacrifice instead, still lives and will get rid of all our challenges.
“With all the supplications made by Muslims around the world on this occasion of Ileya celebration, I strongly believe that God will cleanse our land and the world of COVID-19, other life- threatening diseases, and return everything to normalcy.
“The Coronavirus will be defeated soon. However, as we remain very optimistic, we should continue to maintain social distancing and adhere to preventive laid down guidelines during this Ileya celebration. Barka De Salah!
