In a bid to address the pressing issues of water and sanitation in Ofiki, Rotary International District 9125 has approved a proposal for the construction of a borehole and public toilets in the Central Oja Oba (Farmers Produce) Market, Ofiki as requested by the Rotary Club of Ibadan City Central.
The project, which is expected to be completed within 21 days, is aimed at providing clean water and decent sanitation facilities to the community, thereby reducing the incidence of open defecation and water-borne diseases.
According to Rotarian Arch. Sagab Ahmed, District Governor of District 9125, the project is a response to the community’s dire need for improved water and sanitation facilities.
“We are proud to be part of this initiative, which will have a significant impact on the health and well-being of the people of Ofiki,” he said.
The President of the Rotary Club of Ibadan City Central, who is also the Aare of Ofiki, Oba Gbenga Adigun Adeoye expressed his gratitude to the District Governor.
Oba Adeoyo, the District Chairman for Cultural Promotion for the 2024-2025 Rotary Year assured him that the project would be executed within the stipulated timeframe.
The traditional ruler who’s also the Chairman, Policy Advisory Council to the ATISBO local government chairman maintained that a sustainable mechanism will be put in place by the community.
This project is a testament to Rotary International’s commitment to community development and improving the lives of people in need thereby completing the efforts of the Oyo state government in providing a safe environment for the people.
