The Rotary Club of Ibadan City Central has donated mother and child items to the Adeoyo Maternity Hospital, Ibadan Oyo state.
Speaking during the presentation of the items to the Hospital on Thursday, the president of the club, Rotarian Oba Gbenga Adeoye said that the gesture is one of the mandates of Rotary.
He said that “we have to care for the health of the mother and child, and we have a dedicated month for that, which is July. It is the month of Maternal and Child Health in Rotary.”
He said the idea is to assist mothers and their children through the provision of basic items like toiletries, diapers, and cash donations.
Oba Adeoye added that the hospital is not also left out as bedsheets were also donated to them.
In addition, the Club also adopted a girl child named Amara, whose mother died 40 days after she was born. The baby was also having some health challenges.
Rotary Club paid all her medical bills and all other expenses will be catered for by the club for a whole year.
Oba déòye said “therefore, the essence of our gesture is just to support the development of humanity through various interventions which the Rotary Club is noted for.”
Also speaking, the Project Chair of the club, Rtn Ogunranti Adeshina, thanked members of the club for their constant support, adding that such assistance goes a long way in helping mothers and their children.
Other members of the club like Rotarians Adeshina Ogunranti, Project Chairman, Olori Adedolapo Adeoye, Princess Adeola Adeyemo and Ajayi Lanre, Helen Opoola, Alhaja Halima, Veronica, and Rotn Ayomide Babalola among others, accompanied the president for the donation.
