The popular Ibadan-based Islamic scholar, Sheik Taofeek Akeugbagold has revealed the face and details of the mastermind of the kidnapping of his young twins.
The Sheikh made the disclosure via his official Facebook page few hours after the Oyo State Police Command paraded the abductors of the twins.
The police recovered include two operational vehicles, one motorcycle, one locally made single barrel; eight cartridges; two Micra cars; an unregistered TVS motorcycle and cash sum of N2,863,000.
On his Facebook, Akeugbagold wrote:
“Alhamdulillah ! Allah has bear me witness that i worship Him only.This is Opeyemi ibraheem Agbenuso odo a casual worker under me who is handling social media aspects of my Ramadan lecture.
“He was the BETRAYAL who organised and masterminded the Kidnapping. He so much warmed himself into my heart that till 3days ago we do break fast together on the same plate,him only.
“I believe he’s full of wisdom and i penciled him down for HAJJ 2020 with promise to finance his wedding 100% in December. Is it a crime to be nice to an highly talented but jobless young man ?
“He’s to collect #100k for handling my Ramadan lecture social media apart from data, he has collected 25% apart from daily gift. Alhamdulillah for everything.”
Meanwhie, during interrogation with newsmen, Opeyemi (25), denied being a party to the abduction.
He said after Mohammed had committed the crime, he escaped to Sokoto State, but later confessed to him on phone about the operation.
“I then persuaded him to go and confess to Alhaji Akewugbagold. In fact, when he called me on WhatsApp, I notified the police and I persuaded him to return to Ibadan.
“When he got back, I met him and he narrated how the whole operation went; it was while taking him to Alhaji Akewugbagold’s house to confess that the police arrested the two of us.
“I didn’t know anything about the abduction. I only wanted to make him confess to Alhaji Akewugbagold. My plan was to take him to Alhaji, with the remaining money and explain, but I was arrested by the police.
