Senator Olufemi Lanlehin (SOLAN), has congratulated Nigerian Muslims for witnessing this year’s Ramadan, the Islamic Holy Month which commenced last Friday, 24 April, 2020.
Lanlehin, who enjoined Muslims to use this golden opportunity to pray for healing, particularly for a world troubled by the rampaging Coronavirus pandemic, and for succour to those already inflicted and affected, regretted that though this year’s fast will be devoid of the usual large gatherings of Islamic faithful, especially for Tafsir, Iftar and Tarawih, urged them to take solace in the fact that the month, being that of blessings, has already been loaded bountifully by Almighty Allah, who will dispense same to them exceedingly, even in the privacy of their homes.
“Ramadan, a period of spiritual reflection, self-improvement, heightened devotion and worship, is the perfect period for Muslims to increase supplications to Almighty Allah, for the peace, progress and stability of Nigeria and that of Oyo State,” Lanlehin added.
The former Oyo South Senator and governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2019 polls, reminded Muslims not to neglect the safety
precautions of social distancing, hand washing, and use of face masks, which they had been maintaining since the outbreak of COVID-19, especially now that they will have to constantly touch their mouths, ears and eyes, during ablution.
Said he: “more than ever before, our Muslim friends will have to prioritize personal hygiene and social distancing, as they observe their fast and perform the necessary prayers. May Allah grant all their requests.”
Senator Lanlehin consequently wishes the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, Aje Ogungunniso I, Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oladunni Oyewumi, Ajagungbade III, Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Abdulganiyu Adekunle Salawu, Ologunebi Ajinase I, Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Alh. AbdulGaniyy Abubakri Agbotomokekere, Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta States, Alh. Daud Makanjuola Akinola, and all Muslims in general, the strength, vigour and vitality to observe the compulsory month-long fast, as well as the capacity to enjoy the benefits derivable now, and in the hereafter.
