A chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibadan South East local government area of Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, Dr kazeem Adesina Abidikugu has expressed sadness over the sudden death of a memeber representing Ibadan South East II, Hon Segun Popoola, at the Oyo State House of Assembly.
While commiserating with the party in ward 10, Ibadan South East local government and State, Abidikugu, a United Kingdom (UK) based medical consultant, who is from the same ward with the late lawmaker, described Popoola’s death as untimely, devastating, and a great loss to the members of the PDP at ward, local government and state levels.
According to him, “The news of the death of one of the most active, vibrant and resourceful lawmakers in the 9th Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Ademola Popoola came to me as a rude shock.
“Being a member from same ward, I was personally distraught on hearing the sad departure of Hon Popoola, the death was a bitter pill to swallow for everyone in the ward, local government and state.
“I was deeply saddened and grieved by this painful and untimely exit of Popoola. This is unbearable. He was a patriotic, selfless and hardworking lawmaker who gave his best for the service of law making, his constituents and the state at large.
“I want to use the medium to commiserate with his immediate family, Oyo State House of Assembly, the party at ward, local and state level. It was a great loss to us all. I pray to Almighty to grant him eternal rest, and give all those he left behind the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss”.
Until his death, Popoola was the Chairman, Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters. He was also the candidate of the PDP for the 2023 general elections.
