The Oyo state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde on Tuesday visited the moribund quarry and asphalt plant along Moniya -Iseyin road in Ijaiye.
The governor also promised to revive the state’s company which will generate income and provide employment opportunities.
He regretted that the plant which could be an asset to the state was abandoned to rot away due to political consideration while the state is patronizing third parties for asphalt to construct its road.
In a post on his official twitter account seen by Insideoyo.com, the Governor said plans are in place to revive the plant and create employment for Oyo youths.
“Yesterday, we visited the state-owned Pace Setter Quarry & Asphalt Plant at Moniya-Iseyin Road, Ijaiye to assess it. Plans are being made to revive it.
“This will generate income for Oyo State, provide jobs & complement our effort to provide a good road network across the state, ” he tweeted.
Radio Nigeria reports that conducting Oyo state governor round the plant, Director, Investment Promotion in the state, Mrs. Nike Omopemi noted that investors were not forthcoming as regards the resuscitation of the plant.
Earlier, Governor Makinde also paid an unscheduled visit to the state Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources and directed the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr. Victor Atilola, to deploy unused tractors to various farm settlements for effective use within the next four weeks.
He said his administration would give utmost priority to provision of machineries for farmers to boost agricultural development in the state.
