Oyo state government on Wednesday returned controversial COVID-19 palliative rice to the Nigerian Customs Services, InsideOyo.com has gathered.
Sources told InsideOyo.com that trucks loaded with the alleged infected rice were sent to the Zonal Headquarters of the Nigerian Customs in Ibadan.
The return was supervised by senior officials within the Oyo government and the Ministry of Agriculture.

Governor Makinde-led government had uncovered the infected rice and promised to return the bags of rice by the Federal Government through the Customs because it was bad and not fit for human consumption.
The 1,800 bags of rice were meant for Covid-19 palliatives as government lockdown states. The Nigerian Customs, Oyo/Osun Command had said some bad bags of rice must have been picked from the wrong store, claiming that some may be bad but not all. The Customs also alleged that the bags of rice left its stores in good condition and urged Makinde to look into the issue.
