The number of higher institutions in the Oke Ogun area of Oyo state has increased following the foundation laying ceremony of the American Polytechnic of Nigeria (APN), Wasinmi in Araromi Local Council Development Area on Saturday.
While speaking at the ceremony, the founder of the institution, Dr. Dare Akande thanked the dignitaries and the royal fathers for their support. Akande also unveiled the departmental structure of the institution which includes, Computer science and engineering, Automobile & mechanical engineering, Smart Manufacturing, Electician Engineering- with Electrical Transformer manufacturing specialization, Cement manufacturing, Agriculture/ Dairy Farming, Tourism and cultural heritage department among others.
Akande added that APN will enjoy technical support and Student Exchange Program from four American universities namely Lewis University, New England College, Liberty University, Gannon University and Sprot Shaw College in Canada.
He assured the dignitaries that APN will change the way education is being presented in Nigeria.
“Graduating students will be well equipped for the current job market and future economic demand. A large portion of the 200Acre APN property will be designated as industrial park, this will create massive employment opportunity and assist graduating students to startup as entrepreneurs which will boost not only the economy of Oyo state but Nigeria as a whole.” he said.
He thanked Governor Seyi Makinde for enormous support in the education sector in Oyo state and also expressed confidence in President Muhammadu Buhari’s initiative in the Railway transportation construction.
Also speaking, the Aseyin of Iseyin land, Oba Dr. AbdulGaniyy Adekunle Salau, JP, DVM praised the founder of the institution for deeming it fit to bring such developmental project to Oke Ogun area, and enthusiastically prayed for a speedy take off of the institution.
He thereafter performed the laying of blocks, with the support of other dignitaries.
Present at the foundation laying ceremony were the Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Debo Ogundoyin; represented by Hon Ayotunde Fatokun; Hon Olamide Olagoke Akinajo; and Hon. Hakeem Adedibu. The caretaker Chairman of Iseyin South LCDA, Hon Raheem Ajibola was also in attendance.
Also present were the paramount ruler of Iseyin land Oba Dr. AbdulGaniyy Adekunle Salau, JP, DVM, Oloogunebi-Ajinese I and His Royal Majesty, Oba Revd Ademola Olugbile Folakanmi and his chiefs including Baale of Wasinmi- Oloye Adegoke.
