Governor Abiola Ajimobi joined other eminent African leaders to grace the inauguration of George Opong Weah as Liberia President.
The governor alongside his wife, Florence Ajimobi were part of delegation to the official swearing in of the newly elected Liberian leader.
In a Facebook post, Ajimobi admonised and congratulated the new President and his vice, Senator Jewel Taylor.
He wrote: ‘Dear President Weah
‘Your election marks a new chapter in the Unique history of Liberia and Africa as a whole.
‘I pray that under your dynamic leadership, Liberia will grow as a nation in peace, economic growth and find its place in the comity of great countries.
‘Congratulations also to Vice President Elect, Senator Jewel Taylor.’
Recall that Weah, an ex-football star, won the Liberia election after run-off in 2017.
The former Ballon d’Or winner took his oath of office inside the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Monrovia, in an event that had several African head of states and football stars present.
“I have spent many years of my life in stadiums, but today is a feeling like no other,” Weah said.
“I have taken an oath before you and before almighty God. Rest assured I will not let you down.
“This victory would not have been possible without the youth of this country, the women of this country who made their living selling in the market.
“This is your government.”
