In what was a private visit to his home state of Oyo, Sunday Dare the Executive Commissioner of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) on Tuesday morningpaid a private courtesy call to the Governor of Oyo State Abiola Ajimobi.
Dare, an Ogbomoso indigene was chief of staff and media aide to national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
While receiving in audience Dare, Governor Ajimobi urged him to step up in direct involvement in the socio-political development of Oyo State.
Acknowledging that Dare knows a lot about what is happening in Oyo State, the Governor harped on the commitment of his administration to make Oyo state technologically compliant. He said a signpost of that commitment was the establishment of the Technical University, the first of its kind in Nigeria and 3rd to known in Africa.
Dare thanked the governor for the audience and revealed that indeed Oyo State, based on recent NCC data, ranks 4th in the usage of telecom services across the country. This with specific regards to average revenue per user (ARPU).
The NCC Executive Commissioner, who expressed pride in his Ogbomosho-Oyo state ancestry, noted that the state also has one of the highest levels of internet penetration or usage in Nigeria.
Dare noted that the state is one of the critical stakeholders of the NCC in the telecom sector and NCC was committed to partnering with Oyo in relevant areas.
