The leaders and members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibadan South West Local Government Area of Oyo State have expressed their appreciation to Hon. Oluwafowokanmi Oluwafemi Adebayo for extending the dividend of democracy to the people of the party and members of the constituency.
Also joining the party chieftains in appreciating the lawmaker were the trainees of the Honourable Oluwafowokanmi Betterlife (HOB) Foundation Vocational Training Programme, who applauded him for spending his resources towards ensuring the betterment of their lives.
Not less than 70 graduating trainees and two people living with disability enjoyed free tailoring, hairdressing, catering, barbing and make-up training and received their working tools from the lawmaker.
The Betterlife Empowerment Programme was held at Baptist Secondary School, Liberty Road, Oke-Ado, Ibadan on Saturday.
Hon. Fowokanmi, who is representing Ibadan South West constituency two in the Oyo State House of Assembly also dolled out about #2.5 million as financial support of trader money of #20,000.00 (twenty thousand naira) each to all principal executive of the party from wards seven to 12 and 90 constituents to boost their trading activities.
Equipment distributed to the graduating trainees include see machines, hairdresser standing dryers, baking oven and camp cylinders, make-up kit bag and pepper grinding machines.
While power generating sets were distributed to leaders of the party across the local government area.
In their separate remarks, PDP Chairman, Hon. Moruf Balogun, Ibadan South West Local Government Chairman, Hon. Kehinde Akande and PDP Assistant Organizing Secretary, Pastor Abiola Ayorinde, said Hon. Fowokanmi is a good ambassador of the party and a good representative of the people of Ibadan South West state constituency two.
The PDP leaders commended and expressed their happiness to the lawmaker for complimenting the effort of the state, governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde towards eradicating poverty in Oyo State.
While enjoining the graduands to make judicious use of the equipment to better their lives, they also called on them to continue to support the administration of Engr. Seyi Makinde especially towards realizing the second term ambition.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Fowokanmi stated that the empowerment is to reciprocate what he has benefitted inform of support and cooperation from the people and the party.
The lawmaker, while thanking God on behalf of the graduands said that, the trainees were 120 in number at the onset of the training but only 70 of them graduated, while the remaining 50 failed to showed up at their various training centers despite huge amount of money paid for their tutors
He returned all the accolades by the people to Governor Seyi Makinde, who he described as a leading light for all political office holders in the state.
Hon. Fowokanmi disclosed that Governor Seyi Makinde has distinguished himself as the only governor in the history of Oyo State who has never owed workers even for a month in almost three years of his administration.
The lawmaker disclosed that the empowerment is in line with the directive of the governor, who has mandated it for all to reciprocate what he is doing at the state level at various constituencies.
Hon. Fowokanmi, while appreciating all leaders in the constituency and by extension in the council area, enjoined the graduands and all the beneficiaries of financial gesture to make judicious use of it, noting that the empowerment is not the first he has done in the constituency.
The lawmaker said that he had organized a skill acquisition programme for 100 youths and 45 traders benefited from the first set of trader money organized in 2020, this he said is apart from different forms of palliative support to groups and individuals during the ravage of COVID-19.
Hon. Fowokanmi also listed some of his achievements which include fixing of 3rd phase on a community transformer at Imolefalafia, facilitating of car loan for 30 secondary and primary school teachers, facilitating of teaching job for 27 teachers under TESCOM and construction of Bolumole,, Elewura community bridge at Challenge area of the constituency.
Other party leaders in attendance at the event are Hon. Abass Alesinloye, Hon. Asimiyu Ado, Hon. Abiola Ayorinde and Mama Mokeso.
Mrs. Dorcas Bolarinwa and Mrs. Omolade Oloruntoba, speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, appreciated the lawmaker and promised to utilize the equipment as expected.
