The Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority (OYRTMA) has recovered another stolen heavy-duty truck in Jubili, Afijio Local Government Area of the State during its special monitoring and enforcement of the covid-19 curfew.
Making this disclosure yesterday at the Administrative Headquarters of the Authority, the Executive Chairman, Mogaji (Dr.) Akin Fagbemi revealed, “At about 1205hours of Sunday, 26th April, 2020, our Officers on a special night operations to monitor and enforce compliance to the Anti-covid-19 dusk-dawn curfew declared by the State Government under the leadership of our dear Governor, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, discovered an abandoned heavy-duty vehicle with Lagos State plate registration number (SMK-715 XX) illegally parked across the median of a major highway in Jubili, Afijio Local Government Area” .
Speaking further, he said “The said vehicle, conspicuously abandoned on the highway posed great danger to motorists along the axis, hence, the resolve of the Officers to apprehend and impound it.
During our booking exercise, we received a signal from the Western Police Command, Apapa Wolf, Lagos State that the impounded vehicle had been an object of immense search since it had been reportedly stolen from the Lagos Terminal Port, Apapa, weeks ago.
Following some preliminary investigations, the Authority has therefore handed over the vehicle to the Western Police Command, Apapa, Lagos State for further investigations”, Mogaji Akin Fagbemi concluded.
This recent recovery by OYRTMA would bring the total number of recovered stolen heavy-duty vehicles in Oyo State to Six (6) in four months with over 15 recovered cars and motorcycles.
